Headache & Migraine Management

Frequent headaches or migraines can be exhausting – disrupting work, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Integrated Neurology specialists provide comprehensive, bespoke care for people living with headache disorders.

Integrated Neurology specialists diagnose and treat all headache types, including:

Headache diagnosis

Not all headaches are the same. The first and most important step is determining whether a headache syndrome is primary or secondary– because each requires a different approach.

In primary headaches, the headache itself is the condition – not a symptom of another illness. Common examples include migraine, tension-type headache, and cluster headache.

These headaches are often recurrent, highly disabling, and can interfere with every part of daily life. With the right diagnosis, neurologists can target treatments to provide long-term relief and help you regain control.

Another underlying condition, such as nasal sinus inflammation or systemic diseases cause secondary headaches.

Primary and secondary headache disorders require different management strategies.  Correct diagnosis is key in optimising treatment and reducing the burden of headache.

Migraine

Migraine affects around 1 in 5 Australians, mostly women, and can cause severe headaches with symptoms like nausea, light and sound sensitivity, and visual changes.
